If you host your site on StellarSites, the last few weeks may have left you with more questions than answers. StellarSites appears to have gone quiet, there is no obvious migration path, and many customers are trying to figure out what to do next.
Here is what we know, what it likely means for your site, and how to plan your next move calmly.
What actually happened
In 2026, Liquid Web relaunched its WordPress software lineup under Nexcess. The relaunch brought several well-known StellarWP products, including Kadence, LearnDash, The Events Calendar, and GiveWP, into the new Nexcess structure.
StellarSites and StellarPay were not included in that relaunched lineup. Industry coverage from The Repository reported that both appear to have been quietly shelved, and described the rollout as botched, with layoffs and criticism from customers and former staff. One former Liquid Web support leader called it "a profoundly sad day." MemberPress also covered the StellarWP changes from the plugin side.
Is StellarSites shutting down?
We have not seen a clear public shutdown notice for StellarSites. But the public signals are not encouraging. StellarSites was left out of the Nexcess relaunch, the old marketing path is no longer obvious, and there does not appear to be a clearly communicated long-term plan for customers on the platform.
If your site is important to your business, that uncertainty is the real problem. You do not want to wait until support, updates, billing, or account access becomes urgent.
What this means if you're on StellarSites
The practical issue is not the corporate restructuring itself. The practical issue is whether your site is still on a platform that is actively supported, actively maintained, and easy to leave if you need to.
A managed host that is no longer being invested in can become harder to rely on over time. Support may become less predictable, platform updates may slow down, and moving later can become more stressful than moving now.
That does not mean you need to panic. It does mean you should make a plan.
Your options
There are two realistic paths.
-
Stay on StellarSites and wait for more clarity. This may be reasonable for a low-risk site, but it is harder to justify for a production site that brings in leads, members, students, or revenue.
-
Move to a host that is actively supported. This gives you more control, especially if you move while your current site is still online and accessible.
If you choose to move, the good news is that WordPress migrations are much less painful than they used to be, especially when an experienced team handles the work for you.
How a managed migration works
At Levamo, migrations are free and done for you. You do not need to be technical. Our team copies your site, including the database, files, plugins, themes, and media, then tests everything on the new environment before anything goes live.
Your current site keeps running while the new version is prepared and verified. Once everything is ready, DNS is updated and the site starts loading from its new home.
Most migrations are completed within 2 business days with minimal downtime. If you are coming from StellarSites specifically, we put together a dedicated page for StellarSites customers that explains how the free migration works and what to expect.
The bottom line
StellarSites customers were put in a difficult position through no fault of their own. But you do not have to stay stuck.
If your site matters to your business, the safest move is to choose a host that is actively supported, plan the migration while things are calm, and get back to running your business.
If you want help moving before anything becomes urgent, we can handle the full StellarSites migration for you, free of charge.
